About Us - Who we are!

The first issue of the ‘Roundswell & Sticklepath News’ was published on the 1st September 2005.

The ‘Roundswell & Sticklepath News’ is an independent Community News and Business Directory for the residents of Roundswell and Sticklepath in Barnstaple, North Devon.

We include local events and news, restaurants reviews, useful information and telephone numbers, regular police and parish council reports and features on local businesses.

The publication was the brainchild of Lisa Tutton. The idea came after moving to Sticklepath in August 2004. After moving to the area from Yelland, she found it difficult to find trusted local trades people to carry out work and to find out what was happening in the local area.

A local publication was delivered to her in Yelland so she decided to put together the ‘Roundswell & Sticklepath News’ to give the same kind of information that she needed, to the other residents of Roundswell and Sticklepath.

Since the first publication, the ‘Roundswell & Sticklepath News’ has gone from strength to strength, tripling in size in a year, just through demand for information and businesses wanting to be included in the magazine.

The publication has received a fantastic response from both the residents and those advertising in it.

Lisa and her husband, Alex, pride themselves in the fact that they have met 95% of the people that advertise in the magazine, many of them becoming friends. This allows them to be able to recommend the businesses advertising in the magazine to local residents who otherwise maybe unsure about calling in a tradesperson that they do not know.

The ‘Roundswell & Sticklepath News’ is now a part of the local community providing information and services and it is often a lifeline to those living alone.

If you have any information that you would like to include in our monthly magazine or have a business that you feel would benefit from both our website and our magazine, please contact Lisa Tutton on 01271 858330 or email me lisa@rsnews.biz
