As I mentioned in my last article, I have recently got married to a lovely lady. The day was fantastic and I can honestly say that it was one of the happiest days of my life.
Hopefully I can now bring you some more good news, we have a new PCSO – Dan Cornish he has started with us and he shall be covering the Fremington to Westleigh area.
Also a new Neighbourhood Beat Manager – NBM, PC Terry Hodgson has been appointed and we are hoping that he shall be commencing his duties in the next few weeks. Terry will also be covering the Fremington to Westleigh area.
I have now completed the extra 3-week PCSO Continuation Training that is required and I have now been designated with the new powers such as:
Issuing of Penalty Notice for Disorder – PND, for various offences, including alcohol related offences. These are like fixed penalties notices, except they cover more serious offences and the fines are presently set at £50.00 and £80.00 respectively.
Being able to search persons, for alcohol and tobacco under certain conditions and to seize drugs if found.
Able to deal with abandoned vehicles.
Section 59 - which deals with drivers who are using their vehicles, in a way that would be considered to be causing harassment, alarm or distress to others.
Section 30 – which is the powers to disperse groups, in a designated area and to remove persons under the age of 16 to their place of residence.
I have also been given some traffic powers.
Unfortunately there has been some anti social behaviour involving a number of youths in the Fremington area, mainly on Friday and Saturday nights, though my colleagues and I cover the area when working lates, with the best will in the world, we cannot be everywhere at once. So I would like to ask the residents to report any anti social behaviour to us on the telephone number below, unless its urgent, then please ring 999.
AND FINALY
I am still looking for residents in all areas, especially Fremington, to volunteer and become Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators.
