We would like to welcome you on your holiday to our area and hope that your stay will be enjoyable and care free. With this in mind and in an effort to make your holiday as trouble free as possible, we would ask that you take just a few minutes of your time to read the following advice. The local Police Service and Crime Reduction Team are proud to state that Northern Devon has a very low crime rate compared to other parts of the country. However, it is a sad fact of life that there are people out there that will take advantage of any opportunity to commit crime if you accidentallypresent it

| DON’T LET YOUR HOLIDAY BE SPOILT BY AN OPPORTUNIST THIEF! We are sure that if you were at home, you would make every effort to stop your possessions from being stolen. So all we are asking is that, whilst on holiday, you take the same simple precautions. Whether you are staying in a hotel, a caravan or a tent, there are a few simple measures that you can take to secure your possessions, accommodation and car to prevent them from being subjected to crime. Keep valuable and personal possessions out of sight If you are going off site close your tent and lock your caravan During the day secure and supervise your personal belongings as best you can At night don’t leave surfboards and wet suits in the open. Don’t leave boards on the roof bars - lock them away in your accommodation. Don’t leave expensive clothing out to dry over night or when you go off site for any length of time Do not leave anything visible in your car/van. This is anything from mobile phones, wallets and CD players to a jacket, which to a thief may have the above in a pocket. Lock it in the boot Ensure that when you leave your vehicle it is locked and the windows are closed If you have a lockable camping trailer make sure you use it If the worst was to happen and you had something stolen how good would you be at describing it to the police? Take photographs of your possessions on your first day and keep the images until the end of your holiday. Hopefully they won’t be needed but if we do, these photos will greatly assist us. Make a note of the make, model and serial number of your possessions and keep the record safe. Finally please stay vigilant and if you see anything suspicious report it to the reception or security staff. The local Police Service in conjunction with those providing your holiday and accommodation wish to make every effort to ensure you have a safe, enjoyable and crime free holiday | |
