BARNSTAPLE CARNIVAL SATURDAY 22nd SEPTEMBER 2007
Plans for this years Barnstaple Carnival are now in full swing. The Carnival, which takes place on Saturday 22nd September, will not only see the main procession through the town in the evening, but also the ‘Kidz Karnival’ throughout the day.
The Kidz Karnival, which is sponsored by Philip. J. Milton will see a range of local youth organisations, and individuals in their very own procession which will leave Castle Green at 3pm, down the Strand to Cross Street, to High Street down to Gammon Walk and back over to Castle Green.
Through out the day, there will be a number of events happening on Castle Green, including the official crowning of the Carnival queen as well as the winners from the Kidz Karnival being awarded their prizes. There will also be trade stalls, bouncy castles, trampolines, fast food and ice creams. The roadshowhire.com live stage, will be home to some live bands throughout the day and local radio presenter James Chapple and his team entertaining the crowds in between.
A GREAT DAY OUT and THE CHANCE FOR LOCAL CHARITIES TO MAKE MONEY
On Castle Green with Lantern FM’s Chappell and the Black Thunder Crew there will be tons of activities including the Bouncy Castle and Bungee Trampolines with many local Bands entertaining us including Hollowpoint who kick off the event at 10.00 a.m. In addition there will be lots of stalls, a traditional Merry-Go-Round and Fun for All the Family. |
1.00 p.m. sees the Judging of the increasingly popular KIDZ KARNIVAL with a Parade through the High Street at 3.00 p.m. led by the St Johns Ambulance Band.
Castle Green closes down at 5.00 p.m. as people move to grab a good place to watch the Main Procession which starts at 6.00 p.m. from the Civic Centre. It follows the normal route along the Strand to the New Square along Belle Meadow, Queen Street, Boutport Street and back to the Civic Centre. Be warned, be there early or you will not get a good view!
The Fabulous Firework Display will start at 8.15 p.m. and is best viewed from the Strand. All of this is put on to help raise money for local charities. With central funding now being in shorter supply, it is even more important that we are able to help support local charities that do so much good within the community.
For full details, visit the Carnival website on www.barnstaplecarnival.com where you will find entry forms for the Kidz Karnival, The Main Procession and for stalls on Castle Green.
Volunteers are always welcome to help with the days activities and you can find out more from the website or by contacting Ian Williams on 07895 017199.
Barnstaple will also see the return of the fair which opens on Wednesday 19th and continues through the week until Saturday 22nd when it coincides with the carnival.
We hope you all have a fantastic time and enjoy both the carnival and the fair.
