Local Police Report - September.

Hi to everyone

Well the summer holidays are now upon us and I shall use the word “Summer” very loosely.
The weather has certainly had an effect on a number of local events, but one that I am pleased to say didn’t get cancelled, though some of the events and attractions had to be rapidly altered, was the Community Fun day at Sticklepath Community School. Though the weather was appalling, both PC Earl Napier and I were astounded, by the number of family and friends that came and supported the event. It certainly shows that there is a strong community spirit.
I would like to thank everyone who supported the event and for all the facilities and support that was offered by the headmistress – Toni Carter and her staff. But I would like to say a special thank you to Sophie Trott from the PTFA, who I suspect spent many a difficult day trying to organise  everything, especially on the day with the weather being so bad.
I am pleased to say that my first attempt, at holding a cycle training course was also a success, we had a number of students from Sticklepath Community School attend the course and I am pleased to say that they all passed and were presented with their certificates.
Again I have to say a big thank you to both PCSO Dan Rolfe and several parents who gave up their valuable time to assist me to run the course. I hope to hold another course in the new school term.
Something that many of you may not be aware of and that is over the past few months, Councillor Des Brailey, Headmistress Toni Carter, PC Napier and myself having been working towards a   common goal of getting a “Youth Shelter” erected in the Ellerslie Play Park.
A few months ago we held a meeting at the school for the young people of the area to speak about their concerns. At the top of their list was to have a shelter – somewhere they could go and socialise and keep dry at the same time. A week later a “Youth Committee was formed by some of the young people, so that they could have a voice in what was discussed and decided.
Funding for the shelter is on going as we speak. And the residents that live in the immediate area of Ellerslie Park have been consulted – out of the twelve residents that Councillor Brailey, two people from the youth committee and myself visited, ten were in favour of giving it a chance and two where not in. I shall keep you updated as to our progress.
I hope that you have the chance to “enjoy” whats left of our summer.

AND FINALY
I would like to remind the readers that if they have any concerns or problems, that falls within my remit and they would like to discuss it with me, then they can contact me via my email address or the telephone number, which is written below at any time.
I am still looking for residents in all areas, to volunteer and become Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators.
If you are interested in becoming one or would like more information about it please contact me, on the number below.
