Hi to everyone
There is quite a bit that I need to bring to your attention, so I apologise in advance.
With the winter months fast approaching and with it the darker nights and mornings, I would like to remind all readers of the importance of wearing either high visibility or light coloured clothing. Parents, please take note of what your children are wearing at night, so many times I see children, either walking or riding their bikes, wearing dark clothing.
Cyclists, please be mindful of your own and others safety when riding your bikes in the dark.
Make sure that you can be seen and that both your front and rear lights are clean and in good working order.
Please remember that it’s mandatory for all cyclists to use their lights at night and in conditions of poor visibility. If you are seen riding your bike at night without lights, it may lead to you being issued with a £30.00 Fixed Penalty Notice.
With both Halloween and Bonfire night fast approaching, I would like to remind all readers, of the concerns that many residents have, with regards to these events, especially from the point, of anti social behaviour. I do not wish to spoil anybody’s fun, but please be aware that not everyone looks forward to these occasions. If they have a notice in the window, asking you not to call, please respect their wishes. I would like to remind all parents, that it is your responsibility to know where your children are at all times.
Prior to Halloween Night, I shall be visiting all the shops within my area, to ask that no eggs or flour be sold to anybody under the age of 18. There will also be extra police patrols on duty for both these events.
Please note that it is an offence, for a person who is under the age of 18 years, to purchase fireworks, to be in possession of them in a public place or for anyone to throw them in a public place.
It has been bought to my attention, by several concerned parents, regarding the parking outside of Sticklepath Community School during peak times. I appreciate that parking is of a premium near the school, but there is no excuse for parents parking their vehicles on the pavement, there has already been one incident whereby a child was nearly knocked down by a vehicle that was parked on the pavement. I have witnessed for myself parents parking on the pavement and in the past I have been prepared to give advice, but I shall now be considering the issuing of FPN – please see the table on page 36. Also be aware that the yellow zigzags as well as the bus stop lines have now been repainted.
In Roundswell, a similar problem of parking on the pavement, especially in the evenings and the weekend, has also been highlighted, so please be mindful of the guidelines on page 36 when parking, you have been warned!
