RHS Garden Rosemoor in Great Torrington has recently implemented Phase 1 of an exciting development plan which forms part of the RHS’s long range goals to become more environmentally friendly and to improve food quality and ethics. The first step was to set up an in-house RHS catering facility with the end goal of bringing all cooking and baking in-house. At present all hot meals, buns, scones, sandwiches, and salads are prepared on site whilst the delicious moist cakes are provided by a local supplier. The restaurant now makes full use of local suppliers and serves fresh seasonal produce, from the fruit and vegetable garden at Rosemoor, when available. |

Jane Cookson, RHS Catering Manager says, “I am very excited about taking the catering in-house as this is a first for the RHS. This is giving us the opportunity to promote the provenance of the food using local suppliers and Rosemoor Garden’s produce.” The self-serve Restaurant is open from 10am – 4pm from October to March and from 10am – 5pm from April - September. Hot meals are available from 12:00pm to 2:30pm for lunchtime visitors and members of the public from the menu which currently changes monthly. The generous selection of Okemoor cakes and homemade scones is an excellent way to round off any meal. There is something to suit all palates, and whether you require a full 3 course lunch, just coffee and cake, or even an indulgent Devon cream tea, the Restaurant does not disappoint. It has a bright, airy and relaxing atmosphere, allowing diners to sit by one of the many windows and take in the garden views easily. The Restaurant’s friendly staff take pride in the preparation and serving of the meals. Sunday lunches are very popular with visitors, with lamb and beef being the popular choices for roast dinners. The prices for all the food are very reasonable given the high quality. |

From coach parties, RHS members, daily visitors and tourists, all are welcome. In fact over 80 events are held at Rosemoor throughout the year. The lovely surroundings at RHS Garden Rosemoor are just perfect for corporate entertaining, meetings and conference bookings; and from Easter this year wedding ceremonies and receptions. Yes indeed, the beautiful 65 acre garden is now licensed to hold Civil Weddings, Naming Ceremonies and Civil Partnership Ceremonies. The new stunning cream coloured Terrace Marquee which seats 200 and overlooks the Garden will be available for wedding receptions. In the evening, after the gardens have closed to the public, the Garden Restaurant, outside seating area and Winter Garden Lawn can be incorporated to accommodate guests for an evening party.
