For Bob Dawson it only seems like yesterday that he started Western Truck Rental with three vehicles and some grand ideas.
Over the ensuing years the company has grown, moved, grown and moved again, ending up at their purpose built site on Roundswell Business Park as a Mercedes Benz service agent, with over 300 vehicles to their name, a staff of 17 and 29 years of hard work and determination behind them.
Next year will be Western Truck Rentals 30th year of trading, something to celebrate in itself. Bob says “people still talk about the party we had to celebrate our 25th year of trading, it was a great success”. Anyone who knows Bob will know he is still as ‘hands on’ within the business as he was from day one and fiercely protects the company’s standard of ‘Reliability & Service’.
Bob has a hard working and dedicated team behind him, who are all prepared to go the extra mile which ensures Western Truck Rental remains a leading local force in North Devon.
Their expertise in all aspects of transport, from short term and contract hire, servicing and maintenance to used commercial vehicle sales, has kept them in a prominent position in the market place in North Devon.
“Keeping well known local companies moving like Home Hardware, Golden Coast, Youings Wholesale and R & M to name a few and giving national hire companies a run for their money, is what keeps me going” says Bob. “I am extremely proud of what has been built up over the years and am looking forward to the next 30!”.
