Photos of Interior of the Ilfracombe shop

Rodds Electrical is celebrating its 60th year in business.

This is down to both our hardworking staff over the years and most of all because of our fantastic, loyal customers who have supported us for all this time. We would like to say a big thank you, to all of you!

Mr Rodd himself first established Rodds Electrical in 1948. He started out a s an electrical contractor for the first 10 years. In 1958 was the launch of his first shop, in Church Street in Ilfracombe. His two sons, John and Maurice also completed their electricians training and were soon to join him in the shop. A few years later Rodds Electrical moved into 17 High Street, where the shop is still situated.

In 1985 John and Maurice sold the business to Cliff Burrows. Cliff had previously been trading in Shepperton, Middlesex under his own company of Video Sound for around 18 years. After holidaying in North Devon with the family for many years, Cliff decided to find a suitable location to move his business. After a short while he moved his family to North Devon and took over as the new owner of Rodds Electrical.

After only three years of owning Rodds Electrical, Cliff sadly passed away.

The business was now left in the capable hands of his eldest son, Bob. The business continued to do well in sales, service and rentals for many years. Bob decided to take Rodds Electrical to another level and in the year 2000, opened the second branch in Barnstaple. Whilst moving into a new town, the location had to be right so the superstore size site on the Braunton Road was perfect.

Rodds Electrical is part of “Euronics”, which is the biggest independent electrical buying group in Europe. There are approximately 1800 Euronics members across Britain and every year a business is awarded the best Euronics Centre in the whole of Britain. In 2002 it was Rodds Electrical. Rodds have gone from strength to strength over the years, winning awards and most of all winning customers. It is because of the continued and loyal support of the customers coming through their doors everyday that Rodds Electrical are celebrating their 60th birthday.

Thank you, from all the team at Rodds Electrical.

Euronics - We deliver, we install, we care. Thankyou
