Following a very successful first year in private digital hearing aid provision, Malcolm Hudson, Owner of Maldan Audiological Consultants has significantly invested in new Sound Booth/Surround Sound Testing Facilities which are unique to the private sector in North Devon. This includes Visual Speech Mapping for precise Hearing Aid Fittings and Visual Otoscopy - see inside your own ear in glorious colour!!! All hearing/tinnitus assessments are now carried out free of charge with the additional option of a fee based full professional report and copy audiogram (hearing test measurement results) if desired. More importantly, CARE for the individual clients needs is at the heart and core of the business with continuing support and updated assessments/free aftercare.

An additional unique feature is the availability of a qualified private Ear Care Nurse (RGN) to carry out wet/dry ear wax removal to ensure that ears are fit to test and torelieve simple Tinnitus caused by blocked ears. This service is available both at Sticklepath, and for those with mobility problems, by home visit in the local North Devon area.

Malcolm has 22 years experience as a professional Registered Hearing Aid Audiologist, being a Fellow of the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists, Member of the British Society of Audiology and Member of the Royal Society of Public Health.

Malcolm has additional expertise in having built up a unique ‘holistic’ approach in the extremely complex area of the assessment and relief of Tinnitus, usually as a ‘last resort’ where medical intervention/advice has not succeeded. Although in many cases Tinnitus can be completely masked (blocked) out by special Audiological tests, coupled with expertly informed programming of appropriate Multi-Channelled Digital Hearing Systems, hearing devises may not be the whole solution to the problem. Tinnitus resulting from neck and back injuries often responds well and may be reduced/eliminated by Chiropractic treatment. Where stress is the key factor to increasing/distressing head noises relaxation can be best learned as part of a series of techniques experienced through Hypnotherapy. Malcolm carries out a full Lifestyle Questionnaire with all clients. He has qualified Chiropractic Doctors, a qualified Hypnotherapist and other professional Therapists on hand at all times where a continuity of professional service and solutions can be discussed, recommended, offered and applied.
