Keeping it Local – introducing... Local Farm Box
2009 marks the launch of an exciting new delivery service for North Devon, called Local Farm Box.
Local Farm Box promises to deliver the freshest vegetables and fruits from your local farms and independent producers to your doorstep at supermarket-busting prices. The range of fresh produce is vast – enough to fill a range of weekly boxes to suit every household. What’s more, you can make the most of your free delivery by topping up with additional fruit and veg, meats, dairy, eggs, and a whole lot more.

As lifelong friends, the duo that has set up Local Farm Box is Ian Manix and John Ward. Ian has been in the trade since knee high - delivering groceries to North Devon hotels, pubs, restaurants, shops, and schools. What Ian doesn’t know about buying and selling fresh produce you could write on the back of a... carrot! Meanwhile, John’s background is in IT, the Internet industry in particular. He’s swapped his life on the road to something he sees as far more rewarding and worthwhile, and a chance to lay roots in the area where he grew up.

John told us “The aim of Local Farm Box is to offer North Devon people a real alternative to the supermarkets. As our fresh produce is sourced from local farms and producers of the district, we can assure it is going to be fresher, tastier, and cheaper than if you’d be buying the equivalent produce from the supermarket. For the more environmentally-conscious, we can guarantee that the food road miles – the number of miles from product source to your doorstep – will be far less than the major supermarkets. What’s more, you know that buying from Local Farm Box you’ll be supporting the local economy, and helping to put money back in the pocket of your local producers, and not the supermarkets!“

John continues... “As the website is our main point of sales, so I’ve planned it to be as user-friendly as possible, whilst still making sure it is interesting and informative. The balance is very important.” Local Farm Box will deliver to your door 6 days a week - Monday to Saturday.  There is no delivery charge.
