The Unlimited Dance Company is starting new dance classes due to the fact that we now have 2 very dynamic teachers working with us. Kate Isaac and Joy Clarke have joined the Unlimited Dance Company this term and between them have a lot of performing and teaching experience. We are delighted that both Kate and Joy can commit to teaching at the Unlimited Dance Company.

Kate is trained in hip hop, jazz, contemporary, tap and jive and has been working in television and professional theatre from the age of 14. She is the head of dance at the Tiverton Stagecoach theatre school.

Joy graduated from The Arts Educational Schools, London in 2000 with a diploma in Musical Theatre and Dance and has been a cheerleader for the Harlequins. Joy teaches ballet, contemporary, jazz, street dance, salsa and hip hop and has experience of teaching cheerleading. Joy is currently studying with the RAD to become a registered ballet teacher.

Kate and Joy are taking UDC into Forches, Landkey and Bratton Fleming school to run clubs.

All new classes will be held at St Johns Hall, South Street, Newport, Barnstaple.
Kate is offering MUSICAL THEATRE for boys and girls. Musical Theatre Dance is used to encourage the use of acting through dance. Dances are jazz based, big, powerful and energetic and are great fun both to perform and to watch. Kate is also offering girls only HIP HOP class for 7 years upwards. The Musical Theatre class will be from 3.45 – 4.30pm at a cost of £36.30 for the term and the Hip Hop class will be 4.30 – 5.30pm at a cost of £44.00 for the term. If a child wishes to do both classes a 20% discount will be given. The classes will be on a Friday starting 11th June.

Joy is offering a SALSA class for adults. This is a fun way of keeping fit whilst learning a new skill, a great social activity but also a great way of getting your body into shape for the summer. This class is for men and women on a Monday 8.00 – 9.00pm. The cost for the 10 week course is £44.00 per person. Starting 7th June.

There is also an ADULT TAP class starting run by Sarah (principal of UDC). This class is an amazing body workout, toning legs, bottom and tummy. The class is mainly for beginners but if you have had some experience in tap then the class can be adapted to your ability. This will be on a Tuesday 8.30 – 9.30pm. £44.00 for the 10 week course. Starting 8th June.
The Unlimited Dance Company is a provider for the card. If you have a card all your classes will be paid for. The Unlimited Dance Company is now running their JETZ cheer squad from the Tarka Gymnastics club, Barbican Industrial estate, Barnstaple.
The Jetz cheer squad has been established for over 4 years and all coaches are UKCA qualified, CRB checked and have full public liability insurance.
Sarah and Kate have just been on a UKCA course which has allowed them to coach the cheerleaders to a higher and safer level than before. “This is a great opportunity for us as coaches to be able to go on these courses; it keeps us updated with new moves and allows us to coach with safety in mind”.
Cheerleading can involve some very intricate stunts so being at the Tarka Gymnastics club we have a big, safe environment for the cheerleaders to be in. We have full use of the sprung floor which is great for the girls as we have gymnasts amongst our cheerleaders so they are able to combine their gymnastic skills with the cheerleading – we also have the fully qualified gym coaches on hand should we need them, there is great roof space as that is vital when doing lifts. Girls are being taken up into the air so no obstructions should be in the way when performing these lifts and we have full use of crash mats so when the girls are learning new moves they feel safe and secure.
The cheer squad is a mixed age group ranging from 9 years upwards, this makes for a strong stunt group as the older girls lift the younger girls and they all mix in well with each other.
Our cheerleaders are sponsored by Catherine Bishop, the Jewellers in Boutport Street, Barnstaple. We are very privileged to have the support of Catherine Bishop. All the Jetz cheerleaders are given a squad hoodie when they register with the Unlimited Dance Company, this is theirs to keep whilst they are in the squad.
