Hi to everybody,

I would just like to give you an update on some recent incidents which have happened, in our area over the past 6 weeks.

Firstly, as I reported in a number of local papers recently, there had been an increase (especially for our area) of burglaries, whereby entry was gained by an insecure garage door and then through the inter-connecting door that led into the house.
I’d like to report that through some good old fashioned policing and the use of a “Proactivetargeting approach” eleven arrests were made. These arrests are believed to be linked to a spate of burglaries and other crimes within the Barnstaple area, five of those that were arrested have now been recalled to prison. Some of these arrests did take place in our area.

A large amount of man hours were involved in carrying out this type of operation, of which most took place during the early hours of the morning, and in my opinion all officers that were involved are to be commended for their good work. I am pleased to say that since these arrests, there has been anoticeable reduction in this type of crime in our area. But please remember to make sure that your property is secure before retiring for the night.

Secondly, I reported in my last article, about an incident that happened in the Old Bideford Road, whereby a resident that was in his own garden had been attacked by a dog. I can now report that I have now identified the owner and the dog, and the incident is now subject of a police investigation.
