News : Roundswell & Sticklepath

July Police Report.

Hi to everybody.

As you may be aware a Youth Club is held every Wednesday evening between 6.30 & 9.00pm at Sticklepath Community School. The youth club is open to those that are aged between 11– 18 years of age and is open to anybody that lives within the Sticklepath, Woodville, Roundswell & Bickington catchment area. The cost is 50p per Wednesday evening, with an annual subscription of £1.00 per year.
The youth club has been running for well over a year and the numbers on the books have slowly grown to nearly 100 young people, with approximately 50-60 young people attending the club regularly each week.
One of the main reasons that the club was formed, was to help give the young people in the area, somewhere to relax and socialise with other young people from the area. This was on the understanding that during the remainder of the week NOBODY would enter the school grounds.

On the whole this has generally been adhered to. Unfortunately in the last couple of weeks I have received reports of young people being seen within the school grounds, some of which has led to some damage being caused as well as some using it as a toilet! I would just like to warn anybody who is caught or is reported to me for causing any form of anti-social behaviour or trespassing within the school grounds will firstly, be banned from the youth club, and secondly will be issued with at LEAST a Letter One, on the Anti Social Behaviour escalation process by myself. If any damage is caused to any of the school property then they may find themselves facing other more serious charges.

Please take note PC Napier and myself will shortly complete our training in the use of the “Handheld Speed Gun” and we will then have the facility to carry out speed enforcement operations as well as statistic gathering surveys within our area. This will help us to identify any hotspots.

Unfortunately we have suffered from a spate of “Tagging” in the Sticklepath Hill and Old Torrington Road areas. This has also included the offenders placing their tags onto the recently painted Mural on the new bridge underpasses. These Murals were designed by art students from North Devon College, who take great pride in their “Street Art.” Before the work on the Murals were finished, they were protected with a clear coat of “Anti Graffiti” paint, so that the graffiti could be cleaned off, without damaging the Mural. Hopefully by the time that you read this, the graffiti would have been removed. The Methodist Church in Rhododendron Ave was also targeted. Although we have tried to locate the offenders, we are struggling to identify the person(s) behind the tags that have been used so I would like to ask all the readers, if they know who is responsible for the following “Tags” HINT UK, 3rd & IGBE.

And Finally

Just to remind everybody that the Roundswell Police Surgery is being held on the last Tuesday of each month between 10.30 – 11.30 am at the Sainsburys Community Hall, Roundswell.

Regards
Tony
