One very brave, local family embark on an adventure of a lifetime!

Over the next 12-18 months we will hopefully be updating you on a life changing journey which friends of ours are embarking on, in aid of the North Devon Air Ambulance. July 14th saw Phil, Sharon, Jemma and Ben leave their Devon home on a journey of a lifetime in their motorhome ’Nessie’. Phil & Sharon will be updating their website whenever possible as they travel, so if they manage to find an internet connection, I will let you know how they all are and where they are!!

Below is an article which has been posted about them on the North Devon Air Ambulance Website:

'Macswayround' World Tour
Family up sticks to live in motorhome

Complete with their motorhome, the McKenzie family are leaving Devon's shores this July, to undertake the trip of a lifetime.
Husband and wife Phil and Sharon, together with Jemma (8), and Ben (6), from Pyworthy, set off this July, planning to visit in excess of 12 different countries, including Scandinavia, Poland, Australia, America and New Zealand.
Sharon explained "This trip has been a long time in the planning. We thought it would be great to be able to raise funds for a cause close to our hearts on the way. Both Phil and my mum have had the need of the service in the past. Phil was airlifted after a motorbike accident in 1999 when he suffered serious leg injuries, and my mum needed the Air Ambulance 11 years ago due to a brain haemorrhage. As a family we cannot speak more highly of this essential life saving service. It is up to the community as a whole to ensure it is there for other families like ours."
Caroline Creer, Fundraising Director of the Devon Air Ambulance Trust said "What Sharon, Phil and their family are doing is amazing. To up sticks and travel for 12 to 18 months is quite a challenge! We wish them a safe and very enjoyable journey."
She added " Being independent of Government funding, means every single penny of the upward of £2.2 million needed this year to keep the 2 helicopters airborne comes from the generosity of individuals and families just like Sharon's."
Sharon and Phil will be taking the children out of school but will be keeping links via the internet, email and webcam to Pyworthy Primary School.

The family will be visiting:-
Scandinavia, Eastern Europe (Germany), Poland, Switzerland, France, Spain, Portugal, America, Australia, New Zealand, Papau New Guinea/Indonesian Islands (to be confirmed), and Canada.

Please support Phil and Sharon by making a donation yourself to the Devon Air Ambulance. You never know, you may need them too, one day!!!
