During last month, I was invited along to review another of the many treatments that Naturally Yours offer. This time my treatment was an Ionic-Detox. My first thoughts were great, a fantastic cleansing for me. When I arrived, Carol the owner, invited me to take a seat and test the temperature of the water with my feet in her Ionic-Detox foot spa. When I was happy with the temperature, she added a pinch of salt. Then a small metal coil/electrode was added, which generates and passes a low current through the water causing a process called ionisation; the splitting of the water and salt into their molecular structure. The electrically charged sodium ions are drawn into the body through the pores in the feet. The ions are taken up by those cells in the body needing them to help move materials across the cell membrane. The cells are able to absorb the sodium and eliminate the toxins they do not need. The treatment lasted for approximately half an hour after which time the water was still pretty much clear. I was surprised and thought that there couldn’t be any toxins in my body to come out! Unfortunately I was wrong! Carol explained that because I drink a lot of coffee, and therefore drink a lot of milk that my cells may not be releasing the toxins. She advised me to cut down to no more than four cups of coffee a day and less dairy produce overall and to return in a fortnight for a second attempt.
Today was the day of my second appointment, I must admit that I was feeling slightly nervous after feeling unhealthy last time! Cutting down on the coffee obviously worked as today far more toxins were released and I could see that my body was being cleansed.
To end this very relaxing treatment, I was given a foot massage which was pure bliss!
